Time Rift Mac OS

This thread is not about starting a flame war between PC vs. Mac users. This will only provide information and community support to play Rift on Mac systems. So keep this thread clean and simple...Thank you.

It’s not supported on Mac OS.Only on Windows 10.And, don’t bother. There are ways to install a Windows 10 onto Macs, BUT your basically having to add another OS into your Mac, installing drivers, and then install Oculus app (which is 23GB), suggests to give 80GB for all of this and for updates later on.Also, buying adapters, maybe? (Quest or Rift S). Time Sink is a time tracker and organizer for Mac OS X that helps you understand where the time goes. The app automatically records the time you spend in applications and windows on your Mac. You don’t need to enter anything manually. If a non-Mac activity needs to be tracked, you can start a separate timer, unrelated to an application on. Explore the world of Mac. Check out MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, and more. Visit the Apple site to learn, buy, and get support. The mac operating system put a lot of thought into building their apps which makes the better for public use. MacOS: When it comes to built-in utility apps there is no other operating system that can beat the efficiency and availability of apps other than mac operating systems. The history of macOS, Apple's current Mac operating system originally named Mac OS X until 2012 and then OS X until 2016, began with the company's project to replace its 'classic' Mac OS.That system, up to and including its final release Mac OS 9, was a direct descendant of the operating system Apple had used in its Macintosh computers since their introduction in 1984.

Mac
As more and more people are using Macs for their daily lives it seems only fair those also are fan of playing Rift should be able to do it on their Mac as well.Tho unfortunately Trion has never or never will made it possible for us to do so.But for those never tried to get Windows games working their are work arounds for some games to get it on the Mac.But here we will just talk about Rift itself.
As for now we Mac users have couple of options to get Rift working on their Mac systems. But as for now it won't run as smooth as it will on Windows.Why...?This because all options (except Bootcamp) that are available are using a Wine (software) method.Which basically is a compatibility layer to redirect Windows calls to use by a Unix machine.Which Mac OS X is based on is well.So some will call it a Windows emulator...for the ease of use.
So what are our options...?
Option 1.
Well the first one which is popular among Mac (and Linux) users is Crossover.Crossover will emulate an environment to install and play Rift on your Mac.Unfortunately this program is not free but as for now the developers at Codeweavers saying they are supporting officially Rift in their products. But to say as well..Crossover at its core is using Wine as engine.Tho they wright their own code for optimization for their own products. For more info about Crossover for Mac go here... http://www.codeweavers.com/products/
Even so Codeweavers even made a promo video on how to install Rift on Mac.Which you can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YLXbAmfOJc
If you want to read user comments from people using Crossover to get RIft working you can read the game forum here http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibi...d=8390;forum=1
Option 2.

Second option is Wine.Wine is the god almighty engine/wrapper and also open-source to get Rift playable on our Mac but as for now it is very hard to install WIne itself on your Mac.This because Wine developers have not made an easy installer for Mac (only linux) yet so you have to compile it yourself. But if you have OSX SDK installed on your system and you want to give it a try then you will find more info right here... http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX
Time Good thing about Wine is that it is very frequently updated to support more and more Windows games and other software. However and this is the downside, sometimes they will break some compatibility with some software in order to get others to work better. But in overall Rift works very good on the latest version of WIne.
And as well there is also a support page on WineHQ especially for this game where users can submit their own findings, tips, tricks and problems which you can read here http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=22884
Option 3.

We can also use Wineskin.Wineskin is basically just a wrapper somewhat like Crossover to get Rift working on our Macs.Tho the learning curve of using this program is more difficult then using Crossover but it will save you allot of time and effort by compiling Wine yourself.Wineskins is also open-source and more info about it you can go here http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php

With Wineskin you can create your own Wine prefix and configure different settings and registry settings in order to make Rift working. Many people have tried with success and others have failed. But if you know your way around Wine then you probably can use this application with ease. But for more support on Wineskin you can go here which will give you a detailed description on how to setup Wineskin to get your game running. http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tik...hp?page=Manual
Option 4.
This option is made by myself.I have made a Rift installer for Mac so you can get into the game without figuring out all of the options above which I just wrought. The installer is made with Wineskin using Wine 1.6 engine which is the latest version at this time of writing and I have made some tweaks and settings to get it up and running.Right now with my own installer I can play this game for hours and hours and I'm glad to say I have not yet had a crash using this. But what may work for me might not work for you, since every Mac is different in configuration their might be some problems. However their are a few known problems so far which we all will get no matter what you do...
Problems as of right now are..
  • Flashing screen during movies and loading
  • No auto patching during game play, so fully download the game before playing
  • No use of in game recording

Time Rift Mac Os X

To see it runs on my Mac you can watch a video that will show how it runs currently.I have to say that using my screen recording while playing Rift makes it go laggy a bit.But normally it runs flawless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnn9Jd7MRy0

Hopefully in the future this will be solved and I'm working on it as well with my own installer. If you are interested to try it out then you can go here http://blintcentral.com/release-rift...-for-mac-os-x/
So for now these are the well known options to get Rift running on Mac OS.If you have any suggestions to this post or you have some other tips or tricks then please let me know so I can update the post.
